Ukhrul, September 01 2016:
The Nagas have been reeling under the hands of the communal Manipur Government led by O Ibobi and the time has come for the Nagas to prepare themselves for the future, stated UNC president Gaidon Kamei.
Speaking yesterday at the 2nd death anniversary of Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror from Teinem village, who were killed in police action while demanding the withdrawal of Manipur police commandos from Ukhrul, the UNC president launched a scathing against the State Government dubbing it communal, Mungchan Zimik reports.
Police commandos were deployed at Ukhrul and restrictions placed under CrPC 144 after ADC Member Ngalangzar Malue was assassinated in 2014 at Finch Corner, Ukhrul.
Going on the offensive against the State Government, Gaidon Kamei said that Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Deputy Gaikhangam believe in the doctrine of terrorism, subjugation and marginalization to deprive the rights of the innocent tribals of the State, Nagas in particular .
The modus operandi to militarize and sabotage the Naga movement is akin to a move to destabilize the aspiration of the Nagas for self determination, declared Gaidon.
In 2010, two promising Naga youths were killed by the State security force at Mao Gate and similarly in 2014 Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror were also killed by police and many others wounded.
Consequently, with the ulterior motive to suppress the rights of the tribals, three 'anti-tribal' Bills were passed by the State Assembly, leading to a spontaneous uproar in Churachandpur in which 9 persons were killed.
He further urged the people to unite and strengthen the peace process and added that the Government of India is committed to bringing a final agreement to resolve the Indo- Naga issue.
The UNC also paid respect to the wives of the two men.
Leaders from Chiru, Tarao, Monsang communities, Ukhrul ADC members, TKS, TMNL, Zone chairmen, NMUM, Church leaders attended the 2nd death anniversary observation at TNL ground.
