Imphal, October 31 2018: Chief Minister N Biren has stated that Indians now live in a prosperous and strong country because of the firm foundation laid by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He was speaking at a valedictory function held at Palace Compound today which marked the closure of a rally named Run for Unity.

The rally was organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

After the lapse ofBritish paramountcy, many divisive forces, both external and internal threatened the integrity of India but Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel valiantly fought all these inimical forces and successfully neutralised them, Biren asserted.

By unveiling the world's largest statue, the Nation today paid befitting homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who dedicated his life for a strong and united India.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda said that the Run for Unity was organised in remembrance of the contributions made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards unification of India.

Earlier, the Chief Minister flagged off the Run for Unity rally from Yumnam Leikai Lairembi ground which was attended by a large number of BJP workers and leaders.
