Imphal, October 31 2017:
In a place like Jiribam, where numerous communities coexist, it is essential to stand united and stop thinking for the welfare of only one's own community, said MLA Ashab Uddin today .
He was speaking on the occasion of felicitating newly elected Zilla Parishad members and Gram Panchayat pradhans at his official residence at Babupura in Imphal .
The MLA revealed that there are Bengali-speaking people in Jiribam who do not consider themselves as Manipuris, while adding that there should be a check on the influx of outsiders and added that there is also a need for tracing the roots of those citizens who have been staying (in Jiribam) for a long time and bring out the facts first.
There should be a bond between the communities based on peace and unity, the MLA stated.
He said Jiribam is one of the least developed Assembly Constituencies in the State.
With no political differences, he suggested, the ZP members, and the GP pradhan and members should stand together and work for the common welfare of all.
Adhakshya Kh Janaki of Jiribam ZP and pradhans of six GPs took part in the felicitation programme.
