Imphal, July 31 2018:
After transportation of POL and LPG to the State was suspended for the past nine days, empty TTs and LPG bullet TTs escorted by CRPF started moving on Imphal-Jiribam highway from today.
The CRPF troops escorting the empty convoy of empty TTs and LPG bullet TTs will escort back loaded TTs and LPG bullet TTs on the same highway on August 2.The loaded TTs and bullet LPG TTs have been stranded at different places outside the State for the past 10 days or so after the Imphal-Dimapur highway was cut off.
IOC's Imphal Divisional Office, Deputy General Manager cum State Level Coordinator Sinam Ibungoton said that transportation of POL and LPG to the State was suspended after Imphal-Dimapur highway was cut off at Lalmati between Kohima and Dimapur on July 23 .
Even as transporters were awaiting restoration of the highway, heavy landslides occurred on July 27 and July 28 on the same highway.
As it would take a number of days in restoring Imphal-Dimapur highway, IOC approached the State Government and the Government took up necessary measures for movement of oil and LPG tankers on Imphal-Jiribam highway, Ibungoton said.
Even though suspension of transportation of POL and LPG did not affect daily distribution of petrol and diesel, only 17 MT of bulk LPG is available in the pumpable stock of Sekmai LPG bottling plant.
