KWOHR Sadar Hills condemns 35 AR

Kangpokpi (Senapati), April 30 2015 : The Kuki Women's Organization for Human Rights, Sadar Hills has condemned the alleged hostility of 35 Assam Rifles towards the people of Twilong Kun area, reports our correspondent.

Hahat Touthang, president, KWOHR Sadar Hills alleged that personnel of 35 Assam Rifles, D-Coy, Hengbung post under the command of Major Golapi apprehended four innocent civilians identified as Kamboi, s/o Lamkhochon of J Songtun, Jangkholal, s/o Ngamkholam of Hengbung, Haokhohen, s/o Lamkhohao of Hengbung and Haogin, s/o Paokhoseh of Hengbung at Hengbung village yesterday at around 6 pm without any arrest memo and immediately took them to Lairouching headquarters.

On learning the incident, womenfolk spearheaded by KWOHR and KWU Sadar Hills approached 35 AR Hengbung post where the AR personnel on duty at the main gate flung water on the women, alleged Hahat Touthang.

The AR personnel then said that the post commander was out of station and detained the womenfolk till 2 .

In the morning, it was learnt that Major Golapi who was responsible for the arrest was in Lairouching and one AR officer identified as Lt Col LT Shekhawat came to Hengbung AR post to meet the womenfolk but failed to produce the arrest memo.

Later, Additional SP of Senapati police station along with the Investigation Officer who came to the AR post in Hengbung were asked to write in the FIR report that the four apprehended persons were arrested only on suspicion without any illegal items in their possession.

However, the police officer flatly denied.

She further alleged that later in the evening, another FIR report was submitted at Senapati police station stating that the four apprehended persons were arrested along with 40 kilograms of ganja, one AK-47 rifle with live ammunition and one country made rifle with three live rounds.

While categorically denying the FIR report of the AR personnel, the woman leader said that the AR personnel found nothing in their possession when they arrested them and it was also confirmed by the Lt Col in his earlier FIR statement before the Additional SP Senapati and the Investigation Officer.

Condemning the hostility of the Assam Rifles personnel, KWOHR and KWU Sadar Hills warned the AR to stop their enmity towards the innocent people in the area.
