Imphal, August 30 2021:
The Communist Party of India Manipur State Council (CPI MSC) has appealed to the State Government to beef up infrastructure development as a preparation for an impending third wave that has been predicted by experts.
In a statement issued today, CPI MSC said the sudden upsurge of COVID-19 cases and fatalities in the State since May had shown that there might have been certain loopholes in the State's preparation to tackle the second wave.
The State has also reported Delta variant and Children were amongst the worst affected group by the second wave with number of Children coming out positive each day, added the statement.
In light of such a phase of the pandemic, the Government should look after the mass gatherings at various places organised by intending candidates in the upcoming general election in early part of 2022.Such large gatherings mostly violate SOPs as mandated by the Government to combat the spread of the Coronavirus and there is a fear of such gatherings becoming a mass spreader, added the statement.
CPI Manipur State Council also appealed to the Government to ramp up vaccination drives and also organised more mass awareness programmes regarding the safety of the vaccine to remove vaccine hesitancy amongst the public.
