Imphal, August 30 2014 : The 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) has taken up an initiatives to promote computer education to young students of Kakching area, Thoubal district.

Through INFOSYS, Bangalore's 'Corporate Social Responsibility' programme AR facilitated the donation of 30 computers to nine Government Schools in Thoubal District.

The initiative would improve computer learning to enhance the skills of local youth, increase awareness and empower them to seek meaningful employment, a press release stated.

The initiative would transform the lives of atleast 150 children per school per year.

Brigadier Gajendra Joshi, SM, Commander, 28 Sector AR urged the schools to make optimum use of the computers in educating children of the region and thereby weaning them away from negative impacts of insurgency.

He handed over the computers to the heads of nine schools in a function attended by Y Suchandra Singh, MLA, Kakching, and representatives from the nine schools.

The MLA, speaking on the occasion, praised the thoughtful initiative of the security forces and INFOSYS, Bangalore stating that this gesture will pave a way for socio-economic upliftment and development of the region and inturn result in peace and harmony in the state.
