Imphal, March 30 2019:
Frequency of movement of POL and LPG convoys escorted by CRPF to and from Imphal would be reduced.
There will be movement of CRPF-escorted empty and loaded POL and LPG tanker trucks to and from Imphal on only three days in a week.
Earlier, there was movement of CRPF-escorted empty POL and LPG tanker trucks five times a week and loaded TTs four times a week.
According to a new schedule notified by IOC's Ma-lom depot, there would be movement of empty as well as loaded POL and LPG TTs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with CRPF escorts.
But there would be no change to the volume of fuel transportation as all tankers which report for fuel transportation would be taken along the convoys.
The frequency of movement of POL and LPG TTs has been reduced as two companies of CRPF engaged in escorting the convoys have been detailed for election duty in Nagaland.
It is said that the frequency of movement of POL and LPG TTs would be increased to the former level after the Lok Sabha election.
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has intimated both CRPF and IOC to ensure movement of POL and LPG convoys on three days in a week so that there is no shortage of fuels for the Lok Sabha election which would be held on April 11 and 18 in the State.
With CEO PK Singh in the chair, a meeting was held today with police nodal officer ADGP L Kailun, Additional CEO T Ranjit and IOC's State Level Coordinator SI Singh in the CEO's office this afternoon.
The meeting discussed about ensuring sufficient availability of fuels in the State during the Lok Sabha election.
During the meeting, the CEO asked all concerned to stock fuels to full capacity of the State's oil depot and ensure movement of POL TTs three days in a week.
