Imphal, October 29 2016:
The CorCom has condoled the demise of Thounaojam Iboyaima on October 27 who was given the title 'Father of Social Worker' .
While conveying solidarity to the bereaved family, CorCom remarked that the demise of Th Iboyaima is a big loss for the Nation.
For citing UN covenants and norms under which an occupied Nation can fight for independence during the unveiling ceremony of the busts of Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, Paona Brajabasi and Hijam Irabot on April 9, 2000, Iboyaima was imprisoned by the State Government.
Rather than fazed by the imprisonment, Iboyaima boldly stated, "For the freedom of the people, many youngsters who are like sons and daughters to me have been spending their life in jungles.
I will happily spend my whole life in jail , not just two or three days, for the cause of truth", quoted a press release issued by CorCom media coordinator Ksh Yoiheiba.
Saying that Iboyaima was a wealth of Manipur who spread the message of freedom to the masses, the CorCom paid revolutionary salute to the departed soul.
Iboyaima was also working to build a vibrant peasants movement with the objective of making Manipur economically self reliant.
He was a secular man who wanted to break down all barriers of topography (hills and valley) and ethnicity, asserted CorCom while calling upon one and all to follow the footsteps of the 'Father of the Social Worker'.
To all the people struggling for freedom, Iboyaima will always remain a bright star, it remarked while praying that the departed soul may rest in peace on the soil of the motherland.
