Imphal, July 29 2018:
Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) organised a sit in protest at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi community hall today demanding the State Government to include Thang-Ta lecturers in the recruitment of 688 lecturers by Education (S).
The Thang-Ta teachers and students who took part in the sit in protest also marched towards the CM Bungalow to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
However, they were prevented from going any further by security personnel near Raj Bhawan.
A few selected representatives were allowed to go to the CM office but as the CM was not present at the time, the representatives submitted the memorandum to an official of the CMO.
Speaking to media persons, KIMACS publicity and information secretary Thangjam Suraj condemned the lack of any Thang-Ta teacher posts in the 688 lecturer posts advertised by Education (S).
Till date all the authorities concerned have failed to do the needful despite repeated appeals as not a single Thang-Ta teacher has been included even though the notification has been issued twice.
He explained that the memorandum submitted to the CM today demanded the authority concerned to include Thang-Ta lecturer posts and also condemned the lack of attention shown by the Government towards the martial art, apart from demanding the Government to make necessary arrangements for including Thang-Ta in Government schools for class DC to XII students.
He further warned that KIMACS, along with the people, will launch various forms of agitation if the State Government fails to take up any positive action.
