CADA continues its awareness drive on COVID-19 and drug abuse

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) Imphal East District Committee organised a public meeting at the community hall of Khongman Zone IV and V in Imphal East district today to address the issue of COVID-19 and drug menace in the State.
The public meeting has been organised as a part of CADA's continued efforts to protect the people from the dreaded COVID-19 and to spread awareness on the various preventive measures against COVID-19, said a press release by CADA.
Upa Pradhan of Khongman Gram Panchayat, Athokpam Premjit, president of Social Worker Congress (SWC) at Khongman, Pangambam Badan and vice president of CADA, Ningthoujam Doren attended as the presidium members and Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice president of CADA spoke as the resource person.

Addressing the gathering, Ningthoujam Doren stated that the high rate of Covid positive cases in Manipur is due to non adherence of Covid SOPs and protocol laid by competent authorities namely World Health Organization, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and State Health Departments.
Stating that Wuhan, the epicentre of the pandemic has now returned to normalcy since the people strictly follow the Covid SOPs and other preventive measures, he expressed concern over the reckless behaviour of the people of the State who still gather in groups for feasts and other occasion which is one of the major cause of the spread of the virus.
He maintained that until and unless such irresponsible behaviours are not checked, the situation in Manipur will worsen therefore he called for collective efforts from all to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic effectively.
Pangambam Badan speaking on the occasion, lauded CADA for its relentless effort to protect the people from COVID-19 and to curb its further spread.
He further stated that CADA in coordination with the local clubs of Khongman area will resume its anti drug drive in the area in view of the increasing number of drug users in the particular area.
