People's Forum, Ukhrul has expressed strong resentment against Duty Commander, Captain Akshat Choudhury, E Coy of the 17 Assam Rifles at Bundung, Kashung village for unnecessarily detaining an injured person at the AR gate on June 18 .
The forum secretary Hungyohong, in a statement said Malungam Ringyami Hungyo (22), s/o Issac Hungyo of K Ashang Khullen Aze would have lived if he had been given proper medical attention in time.
Mention may be made that Ringyami accidentally shot himself with his licensed gun on the eve of Father's Day critically slashing one of his ribs.
The relatives and neighbours were taking the injured to a hospital at Imphal when they were stopped by the Duty Commander of 17 th AR gate at Bungdung, Kashung village for checking.
They were allegedly detained at the AR gate for over two hours (from 8.30 to 10.40 pm) .
Duty Commander Captain Akshat Choudhury, E Coy of 17th Assam Rifles was aware of the condition of the injured, Hungyohong alleged adding that he had seen Ringyami bleeding profusely that night (June 18).In spite of all the pleadings, the said Duty Commander defiantly detained the injured, he added.
On reaching the hospital at Imphal, doctors declared Ringyami Hungyo died of over-bleeding from his injury.
Had he been brought a few minutes earlier his life could have been spared, Hungyohong lamented.
He has further demanded the Assam Rifles to take appropriate and befitting action against Captain Akshat Choudhury.
