State observes Good Governance Day

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has called on all Government officials and people to work doubly hard to make up for all the time lost.
Speaking as the chief guest of the Good Governance Day held on December 25 at the Durbar Hall of Chief Minister's Secretariat yesterday, the Chief Minister lauded Government officials including the Chief Secretary for working towards achieving the Government's objective of good governance.
He said officials went to far-flung areas which are hard to reach by even vehicles and provided services to the people.
Good governance, the Chief Minister said, is commitment, accountability and timely and transparent delivery of services.
N Biren Singh stated that the law-and-order situation in the State was not so good when his Government came to power in 2017 .
The Chief Minister further cited several schemes and missions initiated under his Government for the welfare of the people.
He said the Meeyamgi Numit was launched with the basic aim of providing a people-oriented governance.
Meeyamgi Numit was not only held at the Chief Minister's Office, but in all districts under the DCs and SPs, he said adding that Ministers and MLAs also held Meeyamgi Numit to interact with the people, and bring cohesive relation between the people and the Government.
On the "Go to Hills" Mission, the Chief Minister said that the Mission was launched during the crucial time when there was a gap between the hills and valley.
Further applauding the officials for all their hard work, the Chief Minister said that the Government and the officials worked relentlessly during the Covid pandemic.
With the support of the people and CSOs, the State overcame the pandemic, though some precious lives were lost, he added.
The pandemic could have been a lot worse, without the efforts of all stakeholders including Ministers, MLAs and officials, he said and appreciated doctors, nurses and other health care workers for fearlessly fighting the pandemic.
N Biren said many were surprised when the State and himself were awarded for Good Governance including the Best Chief Minister's Award.
Stating that Manipur was on the right trajectory of development and good governance before May 3, 2023, he said that the State had hosted G-20 events, Femina Miss India and the Tri-Nation Football tournament.
N Biren Singh also spoke at length on the School Fhagathansi Mission which provides facilities like that of private schools in Government schools.
Today, the admission rate in Government schools has increased by 40-50 percent, he said.
As part of the observation, the Chief Minister in the presence of other dignitaries released a book "A tribute to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bharat Ratna on Centenary Birth Anniversary" which is published by the Department of Administrative Reforms Division of, Government of Manipur.
