MLAs not patriotic enough: Anand

Imphal, November 27 2011:
MPP MLA RK Anand has categorically stated that the incumbent MLAs of Manipur Legislative Assembly do not have enough sense of patriotism or love for their countrymen.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of a community hall at Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai Kounathabi today.
The community hall was built from the Local Area Development Fund of MLA RK Anand.
Pointing out that Manipur has written history which goes back to more than 2000 years where different ethnic groups were living together in harmony, RK Anand questioned what would be the position of majority Meiteis if every aspiration and wish of the multiple ethnic groups must be fulfilled.
Alleging that sitting MLAs do not have much sense of patriotism, Anand lamented that most of the MLAs remained mute when different forces openly advocated disintegration of Manipur on ethnic lines.
Yet, he and MPP raised strong objections on the floor of the House when the integrity of Manipur was threatened by different forces, claimed the MPP MLA.
There is no need for further dialogue with the concerned NGOs/civil organisations to get the highway blockades lifted.
If the civil organisations remain adamant and refuse to lift the blockade, the Government should utilise its force to neutralise the blockade, he asserted.
Observing that many super-rich people have been gearing up to contest in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections after donning the mask of social workers, Anand cautioned electing such pseudo social workers would cost dear to the nation.
