2-day State level Kala Utsav concludes

The two-day State level Kala Utsav held at MFDC came to a close today.
An initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Kala Utsav was held for the first time in the State under the aegis of the School Education Department, SCERT, SSA and RMSA, with an aim to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at secondary stage.
Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa graced the closing event as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro said education should promote emotional and cultural integration among young students of the State.
The Minister further stressed the need encourage and nurture the talents of the young students during his speech.
The Minister also harped on the Education Department's endeavour to encourage students to pursue engineering through its scheme Ashagi Magal.
The Dept will endeavour to breach the gap between rich and poor in education, Okendra stated.
The Minister further dwelt on the State's plans to set up a hostel for girls at Imphal for those coming up to the State Capital for further education.
The State Government has submitted a DPR to the NEC demanding required funding for the project, he stated.
Education (S) Secretary H Deleep Singh was also present at the closing event.
Over 300 Government and aided school students from different districts took part in the music, theatre, dance and visual arts competition held during the two-day Kala Utsav.
