Imphal, September 26 2020:
Bharatiya Janata Party, Moirang Mandal has decided to put on hold its activities in denunciation of the recent political development in the State.
BJP Moirang Mandal, in a statement said that the induction of new BJP MLAs from Imphal East and West districts into the Council of Ministers in the BJP led Government is nothing but a clear example of neglecting people of Bishnupur district which has 6 MLAs.
Saying that concentration of Ministers in Imphal areas will only hinder all round development in the State, BJP Moirang Mandal asserted that induction of 5 Ministers including two former Congress MLAs was a symbol of betrayal to the BJP workers of Bishnupur district.
Denouncing the development, the Moirang Mandal also questioned whether the State Government feels that there is no eligible MLA from the district who can be awarded Ministerial berth.
Stating that no MLA from Moirang Assembly has been appointed as a Minister after Manipur became a full-fledged State and no MLA has been able to serve the State and the area in particular fully, the mandal said that the Moirang Assembly Constituency has elected an able retired IAS officer as the MLA but the State leaders had failed to consider him despite his merit.
As the aspiration of the district and the Moirang AC in particular to have a Minister have been sidelined the mandal, BJYM (BJP's youth wing), Mahila Morcha (women wing) have decided to stall all the activities until an understanding is reached, it said.
