Consumers' Club lines up list of activities

Consumers' Club, Manipur has observed its 30th foundation day yesterday in a low key event graced by club's president T Phulchand Sharma and other founder members.
During the foundation celebration the club also announced a list of activities and programmes to be taken up during 2021 and 2022, said a press release of the club.
The activities as mentioned in the press release are:
1.To press for the constitution of a "Price Fixation Committee" under Essential Commodities Act to ensure an everlasting solution to the issue related to price rise of essential commodities and ensure that every benefit provided by the Centre reaches consumers,
2.To carry out a massive awareness programme to sensitize people on Consumers Protection Act 2019,
3.To campaign for improvement of consumer-vendor relation and raise awareness on fair buying and selling activities,
4.To sensitize consumers about universal service and related matters,
5.To ensure fertilizers, which has been a persistent issue, to the farmers and
6.To voice against the politicizing of Fair Price Shops and abuse of the public distribution system by officials concerned.
The club members also expressed regret over inability of the club to function fully due to Covid pandemic, the release added.
