Imphal, March 26 2025:
There are no incidents of firing, but Manipur is far from returning to peace and normalcy, Meitei Resurgence Forum (MRF) has asserted today.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, MRF general secretary, Oinam Doren Singh said the conflict that started on May 3, 2023 has not been resolved, and peace still is elusive.
It would be wrong for people to relax and ignore the current state of affairs in the State, thinking there are no firing incidents, he said.
The firing has stopped, but the current state of Manipur is far from peaceful.
The conflict has not been resolved and people are unable to move freely within the State, Doren added.
Even after the Union Home Minister had recently declared that there would be free movement in the State, people are still unable to travel to Churachandpur, Kangpokpi or Moreh, he asserted.
At this crucial juncture, people should come together and take collective decisions on future course of action, he said.
"Meanwhile, the influx of illegal immigrants has not ceased, and people have not been informed if appropriate steps are being taken to curb this.
Justice must be delivered for peace to be restored in Manipur.
Free movement must be restored, and people must not remain idle but take precaution," Doren said.
