Unknown persons burn excavators, leave a bullet and a warning note

Imphal, February 26 2023: Unknown persons suspected to be members of the NSCN-IM burnt two excavators belonging to Keystone Infra, a construction company in early morning of February 25 at Kharam Vaiphei village, Kangpokpi district.

The incident occurred between 5 am and 6 am when the driver and helpers were sleeping in a shed.

The unknown persons also allegedly left a 9 mm bullet at the incident site with a note warning and cautioning not to highlight the incident to the media.

Reportedly, no FIR has been registered till now, however the investigation is on, said sources.

As per sources, the action was suspected to have been carried out by NSCN-IM cadres, in retaliation to an extortion demand not met.

The company had been threatened numerous times in the past as well and a similar incident had happened earlier where one excavator belonging to same company was burnt on February 20 at IIIT, Mayangkhang in Senapati district, added the sources.
