The Leibak Kanba Ahal Lup has lamented over the police excesses to the agitating students who are demanding a relevant legislation for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State.
In order to express their concern over the recent police atrocities to the school college going young buds, the Leibak Kanba Ahal Lup on Friday organised a press meet at the office of the FRIENDS.
During the press meet, the President of the Leikanlup Nepram Nungkangba has demanded to relieve the police personnel from service for their excessive use of force against the students by intruding into the college campus.
Nungkanba further charged that the police have repeated licked the students with their kicks.
He also appealed the Students' Guardian Association not to maintain silent over the issue and further questioned over the role of the college principal for intruding the police personnel into the college campus without his due permission for which the principal could initiate action against the police personnel.
Nungkanba further reacted on the role of the elected leaders for maintaining silent over the last 2-3 days during which the agitating students for Inner Line Permit were badly thrashed by the police personnel.
He also expressed that the elected leaders did not express their concern on the ground that the victim students are not their children.
But, he continued, the elected leaders should know that the children are the voters of the respective constituencies from which they represent.
Narrating the struggles of Statehood and Kangla, the agitators had received tremendous physical assaults from the police personnel.
But, the demands of the people have been achieved at the end and its beneficial advantage is shared by one and all including the police personnel.
Likewise, the struggle for Inner Line Permit would be beneficial to one and all as well as the future generation.
