Imphal, July 25 2013:
Even as Imphal-Dimapur highway remain disconnected as far as heavy loaded vehicles are concerned after 300 metres long section of the highway caved in near Heritage village, Kohima, some retail outlets and transporters registered with IOC have vowed to ship in fuel without any break along Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH37) in view of the acute shortage of petrol and diesel in the State.
Some ROs which have their own tankers registered with IOC said that they would take NH 37 for transporting for fuel oils under the joint initiative of the State Government and IOC in the interest of people.
They also appealed to the Government to repair worst sections of the highway on war-footing.
Empty oil tankers and LPG bullets which left Imphal last morning with security escorts could not cross Jiribam before sunrise today.
Pointing out that oil tankers and LPG bullets should be travelling much longer distance, the ROs appealed to let oil tankers and LPG bullets travel in front of other trucks.
Lauding the Government's initiative which enabled oil tankers and LPG bullets reached Imphal with special escort arrangement from Khatkhati via Jiribam on July 23 and subsequent distribution of fuel oils to public, the ROs appealed to other transporters to help oil tankers and LPG bullets reach their destinations smoothly and safely.
