Senapati, June 25 2019:
The United Naga Council (UNC) is carrying out a series of consultation with Naga organisations on the district creation issue.
In the last round of talk held on March 9, 2019, the Government of Manipur had proposed that the next round of talk be held at the end of July, 2019.However, the UNC did not agree to this proposal saying that it "will go back to the people in this regard" .
The UNC had also told the Government of Manipur in the last round of talk that after consultations with the Naga people, it would communicate its decision to the Government of India.
According to UNC sources, another round of consultation will also be held with the Naga organizations on June 26 (Wednesday) in connection with the district creation issue.
Another reason for the long hiatus on the 'tripartite talk' is due to the recently held Lok Sabha polls.

Talking to Newmai News Network on Tuesday evening, Kho John, president of the UNC, asserted that they will not allow the 'tripartite talk' to drag on like this.
"The Manipur Government, every time there is another round of talk, will come without 'concrete measures,' but only to reschedule the next round of talk," fumed Kho John.
"The Manipur Government has failed us in the talk.
Now, we are consulting the Naga organizations on our next step.
We cannot go on like this," the UNC president added.
However, sources said that the next round of 'tripartite talk' is likely to be held soon.
It is worth noting here that, the previous Government of Manipur had created seven new districts on December 8, 2016 .
In protest against that act, the UNC had imposed 139 days of economic blockade along the National Highways which pass through Manipur.
After the lifting of the blockade, the first round of talk was held on March 19, 2017 followed by several rounds of talk.
The talk is still continuing on the issue.
The UNC has been demanding that the December 8, 2016 decision of the Manipur Government be "rolled back" .
It is also worth mentioning here that, the tripartite talks have been moderated by the Ministry of Home Affairs right from the beginning.
