Imphal, June 25 2016 :
Khurai Local Council Communist Party of India, has appealed to the State Government to issue ration cards under the National Food Security Act to Khurai locals at the earliest.
Large number of locals today took out a rally alleging that the local MLA had indulged in foul play while implementing the Act in Khurai AC.
The rally organised by CPI Khurai local council was taken out from Khurai Thongam Leikai Kaliyan Bhavan community hall.
The rally passed through Lamlong and proceeded on Ayangpali road.
However, police blocked the rallyists at Soibam Leikai community hall.
They held placards that read 'MLA and his workers discriminate people while implementing NFSA in Khurai AC', 'Don't siphon off poor people's share' and 'Don't discriminate poor people' etc.
Later, six persons were picked up to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Imphal East DC.
The memorandum urged the State Government to open Fair Price Shops of Khurai AC, distribute ration cards at the earliest, distribute the full allotted quota of rice to the ration card holders and take up measures to keep away politics in distributing rice and ration cards.
