Flying squads to check illegal activities related to forest

With a view to check illegal activities related to forest and wildlife, two unarmed flying squads of the Forest Department have been inducted into active duty from today.
The two flying squads were formally commissioned today in a simple function held at Forest Training School, Luwangshangbam by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest A Kharsing.
The flying squads would function under the control of DFO Central Forest Division.
The flying squads were established after giving special training to 15 selected Forest Guards.
The flying squads would be provided better and more speedy vehicles.
The flying squads were set up as the first step towards establishment of Manipur Forest Protection Force, stated PCCF A Kharsing.
He said that the flying squads have been authorised to take necessary actions against illegal activities related to forest and wildlife.
He, however, rued that Langol Reserved Forest which is crucial for the environment of Imphal city is being encroached upon by many people including VIPs.
