Ukhrul, November 24 2010:
Irked with continued failure of providing their due honorarium, teachers who were utilised as census enumerators and supervisors of 2010 to 2011 are set to launch intense democratic agitations.
Talking to The Sangai Express in this connection, adviser of Ukhrul District Teachers Welfare Association (UDTWA) and convenor of Government census 2010 Qr.
.KShangreihan said that house listing and census exercise in Ukhrul district have been undertaken by over 200 teachers comprising school headmasters from June 1 to July 15 .
But they are yet to be given the promised honorarium by the Government.
Each of the enumerators are supposed to get a sum of Rs 5500.But so far only Rs 1500 have been given to them in October last.
AS Solomon, the convenor of the JAC formed by the census counting members to press their demand, pointed out that this is not the first time that the Government denied the rights of the enumerators/supervisors.
Enumerators/supervisors have worked overtime to complete the entire exercise within the stipulated time.
So denial of the promised honorarium amounts to denial of their rights, he said while, warning of taking recourse to various intense democratic agitations if the Government continues to turn a deaf ear to the rightful demand.
