Non locals turned back from Mao gate, three held at Tengnoupal with fake Aadhaar cards
Govt issues directives to beef up vigil at border areas

Even as the State Government has issued strict directives to beef up security measures along the border to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants in the face of the NRC verification drive underway at Assam, altogether 38 non locals who did not possess any valid documents or identity proof of being Indian citizens, were detained and sent back from Mao gate in the last two days.
At Tengnoupal three illegal immigrants were arrested by Tengnoupal police with fake Aadhaar cards.
According to a reliable source, Senapati district police intensified frisking and checking to identify non locals coming inside the State without proper identity proofs, at Mao gate from yesterday onward.
During the checking of public transport vehicles and good carrying trucks along the Imphal Dimapur National Highway road, 21 non locals who did not possess any documents of being Indian citizens, were detained and sent back to their respective places.
The source further said that today also 17 non locals without proper identity proofs like Aadhaar card, voter identity card and card issued by their respective police stations, were sent back.
It continued that the non locals who were sent back were given clear instruction regarding the importance of having identity proof showing them to be Indian citizens if they want to go further inside the territory of Manipur.
On the other hands, to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants into the State, particularly in the face of the NRC verification process underway at Assam, the check posts at Mao, Jiribam, Moreh and Behiang will be further strengthened to keep vigil round the clock.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu has already issued a notification in this regard.
"No migrant should be allowed to enter the State without valid proof of identity and required documents," said the notification and the DGP has been asked to ensure deployment of forces and manpower and to issue strict instructions to the police personnel posted at these check posts.
Tengnoupal district police too arrested three suspected Rohingya Muslim/ illegal immigrants at Tengnoupal vehicle check post along Asian Highway Imphal Moreh road, at around 5 pm today.
According to a reliable source, acting on special inputs, a team of Tengnoupal district police conducted intensive frisking and checking at Tengnoupal vehicle check point.
During the checking, three illegal immigrants who were travelling in a Manipur State Transport bus (bearing registration number MN06-B-0501) were detained for verification and they were found travelling using fake Aadhaar cards which were allegedly made in Uttar Pradesh.
The first individual was identified as Thant Zin Soe (32) s/o U Myoe Moint of Meikhtila City, Mandalay and he was found possessing a fake Aadhaar card with his name as Asaddullah s/o Muhammad of Kollaka Kollam, Kerala.
He revealed that he studied at Darool Uloom in Deoband UP.
The second individual was identified as Thant Zin Tun (29) s/o Thint Lwin of Myitkina City, Kachin State, Myanmar.
He was also found possessing a fake Aadhaar card with his name as Md Haroon s/o Md Idrees of Moreh and he revealed that he studied at Jamia Miftahool Uloom in Jalalabad.
The third individual was identified as Aung Thi ha (28) s/o Mg Mg of Meikhtila City, Mandalay, Myanmar, and he was also found possessing a fake Aadhaar card with his name as Md Ahmed s/o Md Hussain of Jaganpur Faizabad UP.
Aung Thi ha further revealed that he ran away from Meikhtila City to Jammu after entering India via Moreh after the Burmese-Muslims clash in Myanmar in the year 2013 (during which his house was burned down).
From Jammu he then went to UP in 2014 and there he met Asaddullah at Darool Uloom and they came together to Imphal via Delhi- Imphal flight today.
After reaching Imphal, they boarded a Manipur State Transport bus and left for Moreh.
The police team recovered three plane tickets, three Aadhaar cards and one ID card in the name of one Miftahool.
A case has been registered against the arrested individuals under the Foreigners Act 1946 .
On the other hand, as per the instruction given by the DGP Manipur Police, Tengnoupal district police have completed erection of a drop gate and a shed at Kondong Lairembi check post, Moreh, for the intensified frisking checking and verification along the route.
