Imphal, May 24 2012: Planning Commission Member Sumitra Choudhury would arrive at Imphal tomorrow and travel to Moreh by road to take stock of the Imphal-Moreh highway.

An official source informed that the inspection trip is a part of the overall initiative to boost Indo-Myanmar trade and introduce Imphal-Mandalay bus service.

The Planning Commission Member would be accompanied by the Chief Secretary and officials of Works Department.

The trip also assumes greater significance as Sumitra Choudhury would make a field study about feasibility of making ImphalMoreh road a part of the trans-Asian highway.

Sumitra Choudhury is a Planning Commissioner Member who is in-charge of highways exclusively.
