Veterinary Minister visits livestock and dairy farms

Imphal / Kakching, January 24 2021:
Minister of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Oinam Lukhoi Singh visited various livestock and dairy farms in Imphal West, Imphal East and Kakching districts, today.
The Minister first visited the Porompat Dairy Plant, Intensive Cattle Development Project (ICDP) Complex, Porompat followed by Marjing Pony Complex, Pangei, Imphal East district, Hiyanglam Piggery Farm, Kakching district and Regional Buffalo Breeding Farm, Wabagai, Kakching district.
Addressing the media, Lukhoi said that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, N Biren Singh is always committed towards the growth of economy in the State in which AH & Veterinary Department will continue to play a vital role.
While expressing satisfaction with the maintenance of the farms, he also assured that the Chief Minister will be consulted to enhance the budget of the department for upgrading its facilities and infrastructure and improve the surroundings of the farms to prevent spread of harmful diseases from the animals.
The Veterinary Minister further informed that pigs for rearing which were imported from the UK are now in Punjab and will be brought to the State after the cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) are fully controlled.
Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur, Dr H Chaoba Singh, Joint Director, Dr Nandakishore, officers concerned of the Department were also present during the visit.
