Imphal, December 23 2017:
Reacting to the statements made by Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) in connection with the December 16 incident through local media on December 23, the Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang Joint Development Organi-sation today termed the call for a 36-hour total shutdown along National Highway 2 on January 9, 2018 by the students' organisation as unreasonable and the most unfortunate .
Addressing a press meet held at the Manipur Press Club this evening, Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chi-rang Joint Development Organisation's advisor Irungbam Ranjan stated that the organisation and people of Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou would appreciate KSO if it prevented the Haraothel villagers in time from setting up pig pens on the bank of Sahirok River .
He claimed that Harao-thel, which is not a disputed land falling under 40-Senjam Khunou (Sheet number 4), Imphal West district, is a surveyed land and added that the wooden bridge is also within the boundary of 40-Senjam Khunou .
While condemning KSO for linking National Sports University with the December 16 incident, the advisor asserted that the villagers of Senjam Chirang and Sen-jam Khunou enough land to Youth Affairs and Sports Department for construction of the sports university .
"As Haraothel village belongs to 40-Senjam Khu- nou, Imphal West district, prior permission should be obtained from Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang Villagers beofre or while planning to set up or construct any structure within Haraothel village as they are the genuine land owners", he maintained .
The boundary of 40-Senjam Khunou extends from the Pakhra Lok to Chirang Lok and the said area was allotted by the State Durbar in 1927-28.It has already been surveyed, and its map traced by the authorities apart from issuing a gazette notification .
KSO should try to find out the real owners of the land and convince the Haraothel villagers instead of imposing total shutdown and inciting tension between communities, Ranjan said .
He went on to say that the Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang Joint Development Organisation and the villagers of Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou do not recognise L Tangnaum or KSO Bridge Tangnaum .
The advisor also cautioned KSO that it should take the responsibility if any unwanted incident happens in the future.
