Imphal, November 23 2012: Mudslinging continues on the issue pertaining to the revival of the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) .

On Friday, the supposedly revived the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) advised the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and said it appreciates the timely decision of the All Naga Students' Union, Manipur (ANSAM) leadership with regard to ironing out rough spots of the ATSUM at the present moment.

"It is true that the two community based students bodies i.e.the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and ANSAM are an intrinsic subordinate bodies of the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM).

It is also an undeniable fact that the five hills based district students' bodies namely the Naga Students Union Chandel (NSUC), Zeliangrong Students Union Manipur (ZSUM), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong TKS and Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) are the official electorates of the office bearers of the ATSUM," ATSUM added.

"It is therefore wise on the part of ANSAM who has appealed to all concerns that the office of ANSAM should not be dragged into controversies without their consent as was done by some vested interests in some local papers on November 22.It is our fervent appeal in the interest of the tribal people especially that such rampant misrepresentation should not be indulged in the future because that kind of misleading statements in the media would do more harm than good for the health of tribal unity.

It is a serious concern for the ATSUM and as such, such unbecoming action to tarnish the good image of ATSUM shall be viewed very seriously," ATSUM cautioned today.
