Babysana case HC hears submission of Landhoni

Imphal, October 23 2019: High Court of Manipur heard the submission put forward by the counsels of Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School Principal Pheiroijam Landhoni Devi today for their bail application and fixed tomorrow for further hearing of the Public Prosecutor's submission.

The hearing was held before a Single Bench of Justice MV Muralidaran.

The Court heard the submission of the counsels at length and as the hearing could not be concluded today, it fixed tomorrow for further hearing of the submission of the PP of the State.

On the other hand, a petition filed by the father of Babysana praying to transfer the case to the CBI was also taken up by the Court today.

The PP took notice for the respondents and prayed to the Court for filing objection tomorrow which the Court granted.

Taking the sensitivity of the case into consideration, people not related to the case, were prevented from entering the High Court complex by security personnel.

Heavy security measures were also taken up in front of the Court complex to prevent any type of unwanted incident during the hearing.

However, family members of late Ningthoujam Babysana and a few members of the JAC which was constituted in connection with her mysterious death, were allowed to be present inside the Court room during the hearing.

It may be mentioned that the bail applicants Pheiroijam Landhoni and her daughter Pheiroijam Romita are presently lodged in judicial custody under medical treatment at JNIMS security ward, following their arrested by Special Investigation Team (SIT) Imphal West which was constituted to investigate the death of Babysana inside the hostel of the school at Canchipur in the morning of July 18 .
