Thoubal, June 23 2024:
Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Ningol Club Heirok organised a sit-in protest at Heirok Part II Bazar today against plans for deployment of Central Armed Police Forces in Heirok.
"There is no violence in Heirok, we want to live in peace", said the protesting womenfolk.
Comparing Chief Minister N Biren Singh to a "toothless tiger", the meira paibis at the protest condemned his trip to Assam yesterday while his home State is in dire straits.
Meanwhile, Thokchom Sandhyarani, convenor, Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup claimed that the Central Government's plan to deploy 50 CAPF Companies in different regions of the State is akin to a "divide and rule" policy.

Stating that Heirok meira paibis will confront this situation head on, she reasoned that BSF personnel have already been deployed in Heirok and the region is quite peaceful.
Thus, there is no need for additional CAPF here, she maintained.
Adding that N Biren Singh was intentionally excluded from the high-level meeting chaired by Amit Shah on June 17, she pointed out that it is a matter of great humiliation for the Chief Minister.
She also accused the Chief Minister of watching idly as the Central Government makes attempts to carry out widespread combing operations in the valley areas and arrest village volunteers in a demonstration of alignment with the Kukis.
Towards the end of the protest, the womenfolk shouted slogans reinforcing their stand against the deployment of CAPF in Heirok.
