Rich tributes paid to brave sons on Khongjom Day

Floral tributes were paid today to Khongjom War heroes, who valiantly fought against the mighty British in the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 at Kakching Machin Manao Ching.
Peoples Museum Kakching in association with Major Wangkhei Meiraba Poila Memorial Committee and Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War 1891 Martyrs and Freedom fighters Kangleipak organised an event to honour Wangkhei Meiraba and other martyrs who died defending their motherland in the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 .
It was attended by Peoples Museum Kakching president, Mayanglambam Gourachandra; Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War 1891 Martyrs and Freedom fighters Kangleipak chief consultant, H Ibotombi Khuman and Macha Chanu Kakching president, Dr N Pramodinina as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Brijit Tourangbam, convenor of Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War 1891 Martyrs and Freedom fighters Kangleipak stated that it is high time for every Manipuri (Kangleicha) to recalled the sacrifices and struggle of the forefathers.
He also mentioned that it is essential for everyone to understand the sacrifices made by the brave sons who fought for the motherland to build a sense of nationalism.
Moreover, Khongjom Day was also observed at the residence of Kshetrimayum Joykumar in Kakching Sumak Leikai Keirak Achouba Pareng by Sahitya Seva Samity Kakching Manipur and Macha Chanu Kakching.
It was attended by retired principal, Naorem Ibotombi; Sahitya Seva Samity Kakching president, Kshetri Bir and Macha Chanu Kakching president, Dr Nongmaithem Pramodini as presidium members.
At the event, a two minute silence was observed and floral tributes were paid to the martyrs of Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 .
Later, Kengba Yengkhom, former president of Sahitya Seva Samity Kakching Manipur also moderated a poetry reading session.
Similarly, The Galaxy Tutorial, Wangjing SK Leikai also observed Khongjom Day at Wangjing, Thoubal district by paying floral tributes to brave sons of the state.
It was attended by International Teacher Awardee, Tekcham Rameshwor Singh; Dalit Sahitya Akademi national secretary, Yumnam Mahendra Kumar Singh and L Lalitchandra as presidium members.
As part of the event, Tekchem Rameshwor's book "Tabunungdagi Khongjom War" was handed over to the students.
Gifts were also presented to 35 students who participated in various activities held as part of the observation.
