MAYOL's youth conclave concludes

"Youth For National Regeneration"--a 2-day conclave, organised by the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal has concluded today.
The second day of the youth conclave was moderated by senior journalist Ahongsangbam Mobi.
Dr Homen Thangjam, Associate Professor, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University; Dr Dhanabir Laishram; and Hemanta Ningomba, senior journalist attended the conclave as resource persons.
Dr Homen Thangjam spoke on the topic-"Manipur's degenerated political culture: The transformative power of youth in its regeneration" .
He stressed that youths hold the future of the State and they must actively participate in the political and decision making processes for bringing positive transformation.
Politics and youths can't be separated.
Youths must be awake and aware of the happenings around them.
The State's development and progress depend on them, he added.
Motivational speaker, Dr Dhanabir Laishram spoke on the topic "Youth-led political awakening: Rescuing Manipur from existential threats", and underscored the need for youths to work toward building a collective identity irrespective of their communities.
Youths of all communities must work together to bring about good governance in the State, and build a National character and identity as Manipuris to safeguard the State's integrity, he said.
Youths must understand the political system in India and they must actively participate in solving issues Manipur is facing today, he added.
Senior journalist, Hemanta Ningomba spoke on the "role of youth in combating drug abuse and its menace" .
Situated close to the Golden Triangle, Manipur has been a transit route for drugs flowing in from Myanmar, and the detection of brown sugar factories here in the recent past points to the menace of drugs in the State, said Hemanta.
Drugs not only affect the users but the society as a whole, he said.
Increasing cases of drug use among youths, students and women are a concern that must be addressed to save future generations, he said.
Youths must be in the front facing the problem of drug abuse.
They must strive to root out the problem of drugs in the State, he added.
Hemanta asserted that the ongoing conflict has been fuelled and driven by Kuki narco-terrorists.
