Security forces net 7 UG activists

Imphal, November 22 2011: During extensive combined operations by Bishnupur district police commandos and 5/8 GR at Thamnapokpi Bazar, Bishnupur Bazar, Konkham Makha Leikai and Utlou Awang Leikai in the last 24 hours, one PLA cadre and five cadres of PREPAK have been rounded up.

A press release issued by Bishnupur SP identified the PLA cadre as Moirangthem ningol Phanjoubam ongbi Maheshwori Devi w/o Ph Bitamani Singh (55) of Leitanpokpi Awang Leikai, presently residing at Thamnapokpi Mamang Leikai.

A 9mm pistol and a magazine with six live rounds have been recovered from the arrested woman.

The arrested PREPAK activists include Mayanglambam Rajen Singh alias Thoiba (32), Mayanglambam Bikram Singh (30) s/o M Tomba Singh of Toubul Maning Leikai, Mayanglambam Premi Devi (22) d/o M Tomba of Toubul Maning Leikai, Mayanglambam ningol Maibam ongbi Sushila Devi (36) w/o M Inaoba Singh of Nambol Kongkham Makha Leikai, and Ngasepam ningol Thounaojam ongbi Thoibi Devi (42) w/o Late Th.Brajamohon Singh of Utlou Awang Laikai.

police verification revealed involvement of the arrested persons in extortions and serving demand letters to various Governement officials, businessmen and public in Bishnupur District, said the release.

In another statement issued by SP Imphal east, a cadre of PLA was arrested from Lamlong Bazar by a police team of Porompat PS at about 12:45 pm of November 19 .

The individual has been identified as Soraisham Shyam Singh alias Thonglen Meitei s/o S Ningthoukhomba Meitei of Itham Wangma Leikai.

On verification, he disclosed that he joined the outfit during the month of January 1993 through one self style 2nd Lt.Irungbam Indrajit of Itham Wangma Leikai.

The arrested person is now working as self style Sgt.
