Sacred Heart Church celebrates diamond jubilee

Sacred Heart Church Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO) observed its Diamond Jubilee yesterday at Sacred Heart Church cum school conference hall with much fanfare.
With the theme "In Him, we live, move and have our being," the function was attended by Most Rev Dominic Lumon, DD, Archbishop of Imphal as the chief guest.
During the felicitation programme Principal Secretary (Works & Transport, Health and family welfare), Ram Muivah released the Jubilee proclamation and Souvenir.
Muivah in his speech recalled his schooling days in the school (Sacred Heart school) while remembering them as one of the most memorable days of his life.
Ram further said that during his student days he was taking part in construction of the school building which stood tall till today.
The surrounding and environment on those days was one of the most beautiful with greenery everywhere and varieties of natural fruits in abundance and no one was restricted or forbidden to pluck the fruits or vegetables for which he termed the Humpum people as one of the most generous and warm generous people amongst the society.
He further maintained that February 11, 1952 was a 'Red Letter day' for Manipur catholic chronicle where on this day Dominic Rev.Somi converted into Catholic Christian.
Sacred Heart school has a name for itself as it produced many officers and intellectuals since its inception and inspired the youth and the students to have 'big dreams' and to study hard, Ram Muivah said.
One of the main attractions of the Diamond Jubilee celebration was the Choreography displayed by the school students and the enthralling performance by one of the most prominent Tangkhul actor and evergreen singer Qr Thangmeiso Shinglai.
Earlier, in the morning function Most Rev.Dominic Lumon, D.D.Archbishop Imphal had unveiled the Monolith at the Church campus and Ram Muivah released the Diamond Jubilee message balloon and dove.
Ram had also made a survey visit at the newly construction side of the district hospital where 65 percent had been already completed .
However, the construction was delayed comparing with the other district as the release of fund was delayed by the authority .
It has been informed that out of 24.7 crore meant for district hospital construction only 9.5 crore has been so far released for the district where in other districts like Senapati over 22 crore had been sanctioned by the authority.
Amongst other, the Jubilee celebration was attended by Rev Fr Robert Somi PP Christ the king Parish, Zingjui, Rev Fr Shaiji Sebastian, Parish Priest Sacred Heart Parish, Hungpung Issac Honlei AS Touring Catechist SH, Parish and AS Felix.
Meanwhile, after attending the function Ram along with the director of Health, Field director, director family welfare, joint director, deputy director engineers and many rank and files of the department inspected the existing Ukhrul District Hospital while also interacting with doctors and patients.
