BT Road July 23 case CBI records Herojit's statement

Imphal, February 22 2017:
Head Constable Th Herojit, one of the accused in the July 23, 2009 BT Road firing case gave his statement before a team of CBI Delhi Branch today in connection with the ongoing reinvestigation of the infamous case.
He was summoned by the team to appear before them at the office of CBI Imphal Branch at Lamphelpat.
The Head Constable was accompanied by Babloo Loitongbam, director of Human Rights Alert.
The CBI team recorded Herojit's statement from 10 am till 4.30 pm.
The team also recorded statement of Babloo Loitongbam who was one of the witnesses in the trial conducted in the District and Sessions Court Imphal West.
Talking to media persons after giving his statement, Herojit said that the statement he gave is similar to the confessional statement made by him before media persons in the early part of last year.
He expressed hope that the truth of the incident would come out following the reinvestigation.
He said that he had submitted the sequence of the incident wherein he confessed to killing Chungkham Sanjit inside Maimu Pharmacy on July 23, 2009 .
Herojit informed that he was asked by the CBI team to appear before them tomorrow for further recording of his statement.
He also informed that he pleaded the investigation team to give him some time for the appearance on health grounds.
Saying that the fresh investigation into the firing incident by CBI came as a surprise to him, Herojit strongly believed that the truth behind the incident would unfold through the reinvestigation in the coming days.
