Imphal, December 21 2011:
Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur; Zeliangrong Baudi, Tousem Zone and Zeliangrong Baudi, Jiri Zone have objected to the proposal of setting up designated camp for UTLA at Vaingaichungpao village, which is located in between Kulbung and Thingtubung along Kaiphundai Range in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.
In a joint memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Chairman of Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur Thomas Kamei; Convenor of Zeliangron Baudi, Tousem Zone Hemasuang Zeme and Convenor of Zeliangrong Baudi, Jiri Zone Pousinglung Kamei demanded that the designated camp of UTLA, which is proposed to be opened on December 26 at Vangaichungpao be cancelled and the site of the camp be relocated in some suitable places like Churachandpur district.
The joint memorandum pointed out that Vangaichungpao lies within the Naga inhabited jurisdiction of Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district where the UTLA cadres have no control.
In the event of setting up the designated camp at Vangaichungpao, UTLA may find difficult to adapt in the new environment and this may lead to conflict and violence flaring up.
