Lumdin to Jiribam Train looted

Imphal, June 21 2011:
A goods train carrying rice and other food products from Lumding (Assam) to Jiribam via Silchar was looted by a gang before the train reached its destination.
The gang off-loaded rice and other items from two coaches of the train on June 18 at a place called Ujantarapur which is around 25 Kms away from Jiribam, informed a source.
Another source said that the incident happened on June 14 at Lalpani area which is just around 5 Kms from Jiribam.
Assam Police have not only recovered the looted items but also have succeeded in nabbing some members of the robber gang, added the source.
