Imphal, April 21 2020:
Apropos to the instructions given by different departments to MLAs of the State to provide essential items such as 5 kg of rice, hand sanitiser and mask among others to every individual of their respective Constituencies, BJP, Manipur Pradesh COVID-19 Monitoring Committee/Cell has appealed to all concerned to follow the guidelines appropriately.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at the office of BJP, Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek, co-convenor of the monitoring committee, Khumukcham Jibon stated that order to this effect was issued by CAF&PD Department, Home Department and different Deputy Commissioners of the State, apart from the instruction given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As per the instruction from the Prime Minister, every individual above the age of 5 must be given 5 kg of free rice for April, May and June, irrespective of holding NFSA cards or not, while as per the orders of different departments and DCs, the distribution of rice must be carried out with the help of local clubs, meira paibi and social activists, he added.
Saying that Rs 25 lakh each has been deposited to the Local Area Development Fund of each MLA to procure rice for non cardholders of NFSA, he added that individuals above 5 years will sure get their due share of rice from the Government side.
The amount deposited to the fund is also for procuring essentials for the masses which are needed to combat COVID pandemics such as hand sanitizers and masks, Jibon said and lamented that politicising distribution of such rice to non-NFSA cardholders by certain MLAs to build up their images is very unfortunate.
Urging all leaders to keep the political differences aside and work together to contain the pandemic, Jibon appealed all concerned to follow the guidelines of Government and departments concerned to ensure availability of food, hand sanitisers and masks by the poor people.
He also said that the committee is monitoring the inconvenience of the general public to provide possible help.
