Route closure protested

The Moirang Kampu Nupi Thoudang Lup has threatened to launch different modes of agitation in case the eastern gate of JNIMS is not opened to the public at the earliest.
Taking strong exception to the closure of the gate which implies closure of the route passing through the gate, a sit-in-protest was staged today at Khewa Keithel, Tinsid Road.
The protesters, most of whom were women, shouted many slogans against JNIMS authority's decision to close the eastern gate.
The road passing through the gate is a key route for many areas of Khurai, Kshetrigao and Lamlai Assembly segments, they asserted.
Reminding that the authority concerned has already given assurance to open the route to the public, the women protesters urged the authority to open the eastern gate in public interest without any further delay.
In case the route known as Pong Lambi is not opened at the earliest, the Government should be held accountable for any untoward incident resulting from any sort of public agitation, they added.
