Imphal, January 20 2020:
Alleging that Manipur was at first merged into the Indian Union 'forcibly' before it was granted Statehood on January 21, 1972, the proscribed PREPAK has categorically stated that the State Government and the people ought not celebrate the Statehood Day.
A statement issued by the outfit's publicity and propaganda secretary in-charge LeibaakNgaakpa Luwang pointed out that Kangleipak (Manipur) was an independent country which has a written history spanning over 2000 years.
Manipur which regained its independence from the British empire one day before India was not a part of India at any point of time in history, it alleged.
After the 'forced merger' into the Indian Union, Manipur was reduced to the status of a very insignificant Part C State before it was granted Statehood on January 21, 1972, it said.
Instead of giving the rightful political status it deserved, the Government of India has been scheming to obliterate the history of Manipur and its people economically, socially and politically for good, it alleged.
Several overt strategies of India have been gradually making the people forget the fact that Kangleipak was once an Asiatic sovereignNation.
Since the forceful merger, Manipur has been only degenerating culturally, socially, politically and economically.
Over the years, the Government of India has been working continuously to instil a notion among the people that Manipur cannot survive without depending on others.
Even though there is a Government elected by the people of the State, selection of legislature wing leader, formation of Council of Ministers etc are all controlled by Delhi.
Meanwhile, the vigorous process of Indianisation has become a serious challenge and threat to the indigenous society.
The Government of India has been following a sustained political of racial and cultural assimilation, it alleged.
Despite all these diabolic politics and policies, the Government of India is still unable to suppress the people of Kangleipak completely, claimed the outfit.
It then appealed to all the people of Kangleipak to refrain from any activity which may draw Kangleipak closer to India and/or strengthen the relationship shared between India and Kangleipak.
It further asked if there is any valid reason for the political leaders and the people of Manipur to celebrate the Statehood Day.
