Training on GPDP, VDP, labour budget underway

Imphal, May 19 2025:
A two-day training programme on "Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP)/Village Development Plan (VDP) and Preparation of Labour Budget for the Financial Year 2025-26 under MGNREGA" began from Monday at the auditorium of the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Porompat, Imphal East.
The training is being organised by SIRD Manipur to enhance the understanding and implementation capacity of rural development officials and local governing bodies in preparing development plans and labour budgets aligned with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
SIRD director Ksh Umananda and deputy secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) department Lanjoy Thoudam attended the inaugural session as members of the dais.
They elaborated on the importance of preparing well-structured GPDP and VDP documents and an effective Labour Budget (LB) to ensure proper planning and utilisation of rural development resources.
On the first day, RD&PR consultant Sohodeva Singh spoke on the proper functioning of Gram Panchayats with reference to the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, providing participants with insights into legal provisions and administrative functions.
Another session was conducted by Ksh Dilip-kumar, who addressed the effective implementation of GPDP and VDP through Local Sustainable Development Goals (LSDG).
The second day will also feature Sohodeva Singh presenting an overview of the Labour Budget for the financial year 2025-26.Additionally, RD&PR informatics officer Th Trilokchan will deliver a session on the use of the eGramSwaraj platform, focusing on its Checker and Maker modules used for GPDP and financial management processes.
The training aims to equip stakeholders with technical knowledge and practical tools necessary for participatory planning, ensuring transparency and efficiency in rural governance.
