Imphal, July 18 2022: Churachandpur district deputy commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju has notified that manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of single use plastic (SUP), polystyrene and expanded polystyrene commodities have been prohibited with immediate effect in the district.

The DC explained that as per the provisions of Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022, plastic carry bags less than 75 microns in thickness will be completely banned till December 30, 2022 while the same article of less than 120 microns in thickness will be banned with effect from December 31, 2022 .

Anybody found dealing in or using plastic items in contravention of the directions stipulated in the policy shall be liable for punishment under relevant penalty provisions, the DC cautioned.
