Jiribam, July 18 2014 : A large number of students today blockaded trucks carrying material for Railway construction works at Jiribam Foreigner Check Post on NH-37 today.

Jiribam local units of AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA launched their stir of pickating Government offices and educational institutes and blockading NH-37 on July 5 demanding Government steps to solve the problems of various inadequacies in Government schools.

However, the students exempted educational institutes in the interest of students and suspended highway blockade for seven days.

As the Government has allegedely failed to repond during the suspension of the stir, the students started highway blockade from last night.

Meanwhile, after Additional Deputy Commissioner had inspected schools to check whether teachers were taking classes regularly, the ADC summoned the teachers in his office and verified them.

It is believed that action would be initiated erring teachers who were absent in the verification drive.
