Tamenglong gets a new English daily

Tamenglong , June 18 2011: A Daily English newspaper "The Manipur Mirror" was launched today in Tamenglong HQ with Charles Liangdiyang, Member, ADC Tamenglong as chief guest at the Office Chamber of Executive Director, DRDA Tamenglong.

Khondinliu Gonmei and Gaichungpou Gonmei were publisher and editor of the news paper of the new newspaper.

Many news papers was launched in the district, however it wither away with silently with reason others.

"The Manipur Mirror" will be special news paper for Tamenglong to light the dark corner of Manipur, said Charles Liangdiyang speaking as chief guest speech.

He said the district is fortunate to have the only English newspaper.

Many people did not know about the Tamenglong district of Manipur.

This paper may be source of knowledge and shape the district, he said.

The media has great role to shape and mould the society and the state.

She alone cannot do the task it need people support, he said.

Karmendra of 11 Assam Rifles also spoke on the occasion and said that due to lack of English newspaper in the district he used to read the local news paper which was translated by others.

The newspaper would not only local voice but state and national voice should come out and change the society, he said.

Many others also spoke on the occasion and express happiness and encourage the young lady who has keen interest to produce local newspaper and ready to take up the great task.

Prominent leaders like Keikhumjanang, Member ADC Tamenglong, Pouheu Pame, Member ADC Tamenglong, KC Lokho Commandant 5th MR, C Arthur W, IAS ADM Tamenglong, POs DRDA, District level Officers, former presidents of Zeliangrong Union and Zelaingrong Women Union Manipur and other well wishers attended the launching of newspaper.
