KNF celebrates 29th foundation day

Kuki National Front (KNF) which is under tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with the State Govt and Centre, celebrated its 29th foundation day at Ngahmun playground, Tujang area under Senapati district today.
Various CSO leaders of the Kuki community including the Kuki Inpi, Thadou Inpi, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Sadar Hills ADC, representatives of KNF (MC), KNF (Zogam), KNF (S) and Chairman of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) were among the dignitaries of the foundation day celebration.
Cultural dances by different dance troupes including Thadou Cultural Troupe, Nepali Dance troupe, Meitei cultural dance troupe were the main attractions of the celebration.
As part of the celebration, the KNF flag was hoisted by its president ST Thangboi in the presence of their cadres.
Later homage were paid to the departed cadres.
Addressing at the 29th foundation day, President of KNF ST Thangboi, stressed the importance of Kuki unification, and said that arms is not the key and solution for Kuki unification.

"Different ethnic communities of the Kuki group should shed their past differences and unite for the Kuki Nation," he asserted while adding that every tribe within the Kuki fold should work together with mutual understanding and respect.
Unification of the Kukis and the dream of Kukiland could be achieved when there is an understanding and mutual respect among them, he added.
The dominant, Thadou should provide space for other ethnic communities of Kuki to stand unite and struggle together.
"KNF, the mother organization of all the Kuki UGs will relentlessly move forward for the cause of the Kuki nation," said ST Thangboi.
General secretary of KNF, A Aaron stressed on the roles Kukis played to safeguard their interest and the community before the Indian independence.
He highlighted the basis on which the foundation of KNF was laid.
Remembering the Mizo Accord which was signed in 1986 for creation of a separate State called Mizoram, he stated that the Kukis' hopes were shattered as Kukiland was not included in the accord even though they extended their support for the cause of the Mizos.
After such incident the KNF was formed on this very day in 1987 to bring an uprising and awakening the vast Kuki communities for a separate administration and State, he added.
