Preshaw assures on workers' demand

In a solace to workers in the state, MLA of Chingai A/C Preshaw Shimray has promised to urge Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh for regularization and extending pension scheme, below poverty line cards, health insurance and other facilities to casual work charged employees.
Addressing a press conference at his Babupara residence, Preshaw noted that casual work charged employees in the five engineering departments have been suffering for long time.
Preshaw also opined that those who have Manipur Government Employees List (MGEL) might be regularized by the government and the ban on recruitment should be lifted.
MLA Z Kikhonbou who was also present during the press conference observed that the demands raised by workers are reasonable and the government should consider them.
Representatives of National Trade Union Congress, Manipur, who were present at the occasion, also highlighted the problems being faced by workers in the state.
An eight-member team led jointly by Preshaw Shimray and Kikhonbou would be leaving for Mumbai to participate in the Presidential election of National Trade Union Congress on October 7, 2012 .
