Imphal, July 17 2014:
The Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State has accused the Manipur government of bias in its dealing on situations and happenings in Manipur.
After having had gone to Ukhrul town today, the NPF, Manipur State while talking to a section of media said that killings have become a daily affairs in the valley districts of Manipur but the Ibobi Singh government has not promulgated Section 144 CrPC nor it did deployed hundreds of police commandos and IRB personnel.
"But just for one killing incident in Ukhrul district hundreds of Manipur police commandos and IRB personnel have to be deployed for several days in addition to the clamping of Section 144 of the CrPC in Ukhrul town," the NPF, Manipur State said.
According to the NPF, Manipur State, its leaders have visited the town today to take the first hand knowledge on the situation but found that " the presence of a large number of security force personnel and the promulgation of the Section 144 CrPC have given fear psychosis among the general public." The NPF, Manipur State added, "Had there been to imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC and the deployment of security force personnel in large number the people will not have fear psychosis" .
"When the chief minister asked his home minister to inform the Manipur legislative assembly that deployment of security force personnel has been to restore normalcy, we would like to question whether there has been abnormal situation in Ukhrul town prior to the clamping of Section 144 of the CrPC and the arrival of the police commandos and the IRB personnel from the valley districts in Ukhrul," the NPF, Manipur State quipped.
It then said the move of the chief minister sending his home minister to deliver a wrong information in the legislative assembly is unfortunate.
The NPF, Manipur State then rued that the act of Manipur government using two different yard sticks to deal situationone for the valley districts and the other for the hill districtsis very sad.
The NPF, Manipur State then demanded the immediate withdrawal of the security force personnel and the de-clamping of the Section 144 of the CrPC from Ukhrul town.
