Thoubal, April 17 2024:
Womenfolk of Thoubal Keithel have resolved to not participate in any form of elections until and unless the ongoing ethnic crisis in the State is resolved.
Considering the immense suffering experienced by the people of the State due to the outbreak of the ethnic conflict in May last year, the womenfolk of Thoubal Keithel urged the authorities concerned to end the ongoing crisis first and conduct election later.
The womenfolk staged protest demonstrations by using black ribbons.
Posters which read "Stop State Terrorism", "Manipur is suffering", "Manipur wants peace and prosperity" etc were pasted in the market area of Thoubal and surrounding regions.
The womenfolk alleged that the people are going through a rough phase and are facing great difficulties due to the alleged sponsored violence which has been wreaking havoc in the State for the past many months.
Stating that Manipur can never progress and strive for development if the violence continues, the womenfolk stressed on the need of making collective efforts to restore peace and normalcy and safeguard the unity and integrity of the State.
Pamphlets on the importance of protecting the integrity of Manipur were distributed and balloons were used during the protest.
Expressing dismay over the inability of the Government to resolve the communal crisis which has been going on for almost a year, the womenfolk strongly condemned the inaction of the Government to bring back peace and normalcy in the State.
